Datura (Brugmansia) gorgeous sub-tropical plants
Datura (Brugmansia) are gorgeous sub-tropical plants. Originally from Central and South America. Brugmansia produces stunning and heavily scented trumpet shaped flowers in red, yellow, pink or white. Brugmansia won’t flower when kept indoors. Outside, they will award you with vigorous growth and beautiful flowers. Because Datura grows quite vigorously it needs a lot of water and weekly feeding to thrive. Other than that, it’s quite low maintenance.
Brugmansia and Datura what’s the difference?
Brugmansia and Datura are often confused. Although they are both part of the same family, they are quite different. Brugmansia is a perennial and can easily be propegated from cuttings. Datura is an annual, grown from seed. Both species also have different seed pods. All parts of the Brugmansia (and Datura) are extremely poisonous. Be sure to wash you hands carefully after handling them and take care with children and pets.
